Nothing Blooms All Year is a collection that represents the juxtaposition of the hardship and triumphs of life. Each piece illustrates an aspect of life that transcends from struggle to bliss. This collection consists of two parts. The first part consists of the complications related to Covid 19: restriction, isolation, and death. The second highlights the components of existence that outweigh these struggles like healing, family, and creativity. This collection brings to light  the inevitability of the highs and lows of existence. Synthesized from my personal experiences and journals, this collection shows it’s okay, Nothing Blooms All Year.
Covid.
During Covid lockdown, we are confined in our own homes. Feeling suffocated with little direction of when things will get better. We watch our family, friends and sometimes even ourselves get sick. Covid consumes every aspect of our lives. All conversations, all-news stations, all newspapers, and social media. This Pandemic has left everyone including me drained and hopeless.
Death
Death is something we carry with us every day. It’s always a possibility. This year has reminded all of us of this. This consternation can feel like a weight on our shoulders that can only be lifted on our last day. While coping with death can feel ambiguous it can also be approached by appreciating the perplexing attributes that are existence.
Isolation.
As a result of the pandemic everyone has felt isolated. Facetime, Zoom and Text help us connect with others but it can’t substitute for real human interaction. How can we be connected but yet so disconnected? We need people that are dependable, that listen, and understand. A real support system. Without one, It can feel like a part of you is missing.
Mending
As we look to the future. How can we heal? Mending is a part of life. Some things can be fixed but some things are better left broken. Who will heal our country, our environment, our people? There are many things that need to heal but the only way to start is to heal yourself. What makes life worth living to you? What makes you happy? Just remember that nothing blooms all year. It will all be alright.
Family
Family can be the most comforting feature of life. They always are there no matter what. This past year family has become top of mind. I find that our whole world has been rewired to see what really matters in our lives. For most, it’s family. For me, my parents have shown me the utmost support throughout my life. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today. They remind me that I am bigger than the things that make me sad.
Creating
Creating has always been an outlet for me. Taking a break from reality and getting lost in a project can be the most satisfying feeling. It can be a way to cope or communicate. For me, it can be the most satisfying part of living. Creating with my hands and demonstrating my ideas to others keeps me moving forward.
